DAY 1

Kakadu National Park

Our Top End adventure begins as we travel to the Mary River Wetlands for our cruise. This region is home to over 250 bird species and has the highest concentration of saltwater crocodiles in the Southern Hemisphere. Our entrance to Kakadu National Park is at the South Alligator River, a picturesque location for a picnic lunch.

There’s the opportunity to visit Bowali Visitor Centre before our late afternoon arrival at Ubirr. Here you will view a wide range of ancient Aboriginal art which will be interpreted by your guide. Learn the story of the Rainbow Serpent and climb the Nadab Lookout for panoramic views over the floodplain and beyond into Arnhem Land.

DAY 2

Jim Jim & Twin Falls

This morning the jewels of Kakadu National Park await as we travel off road to the majestic Twin and Jim Jim Falls for a day of adventure and exploration. Travelling into Twin Falls by 4WD track, a boat shuttle and a rocky track and boardwalk we will be rewarded by the beauty of this remote waterfall deep within Kakadu National Park.

Later, a walk through monsoon forests and over boulders leads us to Jim Jim Falls. Surrounded by 150 metre cliffs, we spend some time soaking up the natural beauty of this majestic location. This afternoon we depart Kakadu National Park and travel towards Litchfield where we will stop at our private campsite.

DAY 3

Litchfield National Park

Today is spent exploring the waterfalls, spring-fed streams and rugged sandstone escarpments of Litchfield National Park. Marvel at the intriguing magnetic and cathedral termite mounds and swim, hike and explore Florence and Wangi Falls*. Discover the many rock holes and cascading waterfalls of Buley Rockhole before our early evening arrival back in Darwin.

Day 1

DAY 1

Kakadu National Park

You will be collected from your Darwin accommodation at approximately 6.30am where our Top End adventure begins as we travel to the Mary River Wetlands for our cruise. This region is home to over 250 bird species and has the highest concentration of saltwater crocodiles in the Southern Hemisphere. Search for the mighty crocs who rule this waterway, buffalo, birds and other wildlife. Our entrance to Kakadu National Park is at the South Alligator River, a picturesque location for a picnic lunch.

There’s the opportunity to purchase Aboriginal arts and crafts at the Bowali Visitor Centre before our late afternoon arrival at Ubirr. Here you will view a wide range of ancient Aboriginal art which will be interpreted by your guide. Learn the story of the Rainbow Serpent and climb the Nadab Lookout for panoramic views over the floodplain and beyond into Arnhem Land. As the day draws to a close we head to our private campsite for dinner and our overnight stay.

Afterwards we stay off the beaten track where a walk through monsoon forests and over boulders lead us to Jim Jim Falls. Surrounded by 150 metre cliffs, we spend some time soaking up the natural beauty of this majestic location. This afternoon we depart Kakadu National Park and travel towards Litchfield National Park where we will stop along the way at our private campsite. Tonight, enjoy a hearty meal with your fellow adventurers.

WHERE DO THE TOURS START?

Our Top End tours start in Darwin. Days of departure vary through the year, check the tour page to work out which departure is right for you.

SHOULD I BOOK A FLIGHT TO ARRIVE THE DAY BEFORE THE TOUR STARTS?

Yes that is the easiest way to do it.

CAN I FLY OUT OF DARWIN ON THE FINAL DAY OF MY TOUR?

You can but wouldn't you rather hang out with your new mates from the tour? If you do choose to fly out on the final day definitely book it no earlier than 8pm and note that we take no responsibility if any delays cause you to miss your flight. An airport shuttle bus departs from Mitchell Street in central Darwin.

WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE IN THE TOP END?

Hot! Kakadu, Litchfield and Arnhem Land are all in the tropics, operating during what is known as the dry season, between May & November. Daily minimums are around 20 degrees celsius while maximums can hit 35 degrees plus.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Comfortable shoes to walk in and light clothes (shorts, t shirts, singlets etc) for the day time. Sun cream of SPF 30+ or higher is essential. Mosquitos and other biting insects can be a problem in some areas, so we recommend you bring insect repellent and/or long clothes that cover your arms and legs. Bring a towel, bathroom items (soap, shampoo etc) and a sleeping bag or sheet (or you can hire a sleeping bag from us)

ARE MEALS INCLUDED IN THE TOUR PRICE?

Yes meals are included in our Northern Territory tours. If you have specific dietary requirements please inform us of these at the time of booking, but note that this is an outback tour - complex dietary requirements may not be able to be catered for.

DO I NEED TO PAY FOR MY TRIP IN FULL AT THE TIME OF BOOKING?

Yes, our tours are very popular due to their great features and low cost, so we can only reserve seats once we’ve received payment in full.

HOW MUCH LUGGAGE CAN I BRING?

Please bring a small bag that can fit underneath your seat. Large backpacks or suitcases must be stored at your accommodation in Darwin during the tour. Our luggage space is limited, so we ask that you bring no more than 8kg of luggage on board.

ARE THERE ANY EXTRA CHARGES I WILL HAVE TO PAY?

Only if you wish to rent a sleeping bag, this costs $30 per person.

ARE THERE ANY DISCOUNTS?

We’ve created our tours to be an excellent low cost option for everyone, we can’t make the price any lower. We operate in isolated areas where costs are much higher than they are in the major cities, but we work very hard to give you the best tour experience while keeping our prices as low as possible 🙂
